Airbnb — My Love Through the Years (and Countries)
Below is a video I recorded 6 years ago. At that time, I was still living in St. Petersburg and was just beginning my rental journey.
It seems that the world has turned upside down in 6 years, Airbnb has left Russia, I moved to Montenegro, hosted 700+ guests... but you know what? In this video, I say the same things I would fully agree with today.
Fundamentally, Airbnb hasn’t changed — it still remains the most "human" and safe platform for owners.
Why I stay loyal to Airbnb (and recommend it to you for starting):
✨ Safety and control. You see who is coming to stay. Guest ratings and reviews from other hosts are your shield. On Booking, you often take a "cat in a bag."
✨ No headaches with money. Payments come automatically the day after check-in. No "we'll pay cash (or not)" and chasing debts.
✨ Property protection. The Airbnb insurance system really works and provides peace of mind that newcomers so desperately need.
✨ Clear interface. Everything there is made for people, not for professional accountants.
And what about Booking?
Of course, I work with it as well and teach it in my courses in Budva. There’s huge traffic and big money, but the “price” is higher: bugs with overbooking, complicated verification and support that can stay silent forever. Your property description is written by a robot — no personal approach.
My advice:
If you are just starting to rent — start with Airbnb. It’s the best platform to gain experience.
🚀 For those who want to start renting the right way:
On April 21, I will hold offline training on working with Airbnb. We meet in Budva, at the coworking space Monteco.
We will cover everything: from creating a selling profile to tips that push your property to the top of search. No fluff — only my 7 years of experience and Montenegrin realities.
🎬 Watch this 3-minute video from the past — it’s proof that the right working principles never get outdated. Agree? Or does Booking still win thanks to its coverage?
